Philips has announced that it has developed a new 56 inch LCD TV that produces real cinema quality images. They say (and to be honest we believe them) that the new television really does produce this level of quality and not just says it does like some manufacturers have in the past. Delivering a picture of this quality on such a large screen is a huge achievement. Large Screen Television Produce Cinema Quality PicturesThe new LCD TV uses the new Philips Glowing Ambilight Technology (sounds amazing!!) which allows the unit to project scenes as you would see at the flicks!! There is no aspect change or silly stretching or squishing that you usually get which is a major step forward from today’s offerings. Producing a picture this big that is meant to fit in a screen this big is an excellent innovation and should produce a level of picture quality that we're not used to. Currently with any large screen you always loose a bit of quality as the pictures are not meant to be as big as they are projected. It's essentially the same as expanding a jpeg picture, it looks great small but as a large image it degrades. The unit comes equipped with the usual functions that you get on todays top models such as high resolution picture, Full HD and numerous plugs and shiny buttons. The functions on this model really does put it up there with the top models on the market. It also makes it one of the most flexible models you can find. You can set it up to view pictures and stream from your home network. I must admit my head was turned when I recently sat through a full demo of one of Panasonics 3D units and I am really intrigued to see what the final results of this project are. If they can produce this type of quality on a pretty large television then a big shake up in premium range LCD TV's could be on the way. In the normal range you have so much supply and extras that the choice is fantastic, the pressures of the abundant supply pushes prices very favorable to the consumer. At the top end you have huge LCD TV units and now they have a 3d and Cinema Vision offering. |
